Is the recession over or is it just summer in Cape Town?

A temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced - or for us in Cape Town is it just an excuse to take an extended holiday. We've survived a blustery Winter which each year seems to extend itself beyond the seasonal border...but climate change is not part of this discussion...how many months (okay i'll be realistic and convert it to weeks) are we as Capetonians prepared to spend on work hours and... - I have wondered what our counterparts, associates and clients have wondered, as I seem to hear it often that we don't work as hard...I beg to differ...as from my latest associate I have discovered once the sun shines in the Cape it's actually difficult to work...he's mentioned he's in Summer mode...are you? are we? It's hard work waking up and braving the traffic from any region beyond the immediate borders of our mountain to the big city centre, but when you're driving across the mountain and the sun's already shining...what are you thinking? Thankfully my new home based home office avoids the mayhem of traffic in the early hours and after a sweltering day - you may catch me working on the computer in my new hot black strappy bikini number...amazing what can get done. I headed my way to the new offices of New Media Publishing in Bree Street Cape Town on Monday - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Finally your own space guys...puff puff - I found them on the balcony enjoying the views and puff puffing...after 5 flights of walking past workers, construction and dust in 27dgree heat - felt the exercise the next day and didn't feel bad about not making spinning class...bring it on!!! - Summer's gonna be great in CT - see me on the beach, in da club ''Head Quarters' and eating some of the best cuisine this hemisphere has - Blowfish for oysters, great!...went to the launch of Cru Cafe, I suggest as a starter spot for a light lunch before sundowners and check out their awesome wine selection and Vanilla for VERY special occations at Cape Quarter along the Somerset Rd strip...WOW! Great - once the office and shopping spots and it's gonna be interesting to see what's going to happen with crowds along that strip in 2010...let's hope our taxis, transfers and any other form of transport, public/private/hotel's etc are going to manage working those roads....

Well it was just my luck that when I posted that blog it began to rain and it feels we're in the middle of July - I guess we'll have a productive week none-the-less! All the best!

Maybe Capetonians work smarter then? As efficiently as possible, so that one can get mid-afternoon sunshine and drinks at Caprice...?
Well, I am not sure because I am full-time student. Recession or no recession, I have loads of work to cover everyday. In the past few, I found it hard to work on a beautiful sunny day... but then what choice do I have? I need to deliver whatever the weather of day... exception is on the days that I have acted impulsively on the temptation to enjoy the sunshine (Lots of catching up afterwards).
